Class details are below:
Living Mindfully – Meditation Class
Sundays – 7:45-8:45am
Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be present, aware of where we are and what we are doing and not be overly reactive or overwhelmed by what is going on around us.
Class will include the following format:
-Introductions -Centering Breath and easy movement -Definition and Benefits of Mindfulness -Questions and checking in -Positions of awareness -Mindfulness in daily life -A variety of simple practices -Cultivating attention, generosity, and gratitude -METTA ( Loving-Kindness) -Establishing an affirmation (inspiration) -Home practice -Keeping a journal __________________________________________________
There are so many credentials I could list for Judy, but let’s just say this…… She has practiced movement and meditation for a REALLY long time. And has used it, personally, to get through some very rough times.
She talks the talk and walks the walk. We are extremely honored to have her, out of retirement, at Ohana to pass along her greatest gift of teaching and mentoring. She has been a nurse, holistic counselor, yoga instructor, cycling instructor and home school mom.
Our three new instructors are continuing to offer free classes through August in exchange for your honest genuine helpful feedback to their teachings. They have put so much time and effort into providing a class that they feel has integrity in the yoga and movement world, so do enjoy!

Taking off my mask
I was 23 when my entire world collapsed around me. At the time I was heavily addicted to drugs, working at a coffee shop, in a long-term relationship and just discovering yoga for the first time. In a whirlwind of the perfect storm; drugs, stress and a shock to my nervous system, I found myself in the hospital recovering from a three month long psychotic break. I had lost everything, including myself. Months had passed numbingly until one day my phone shattered into pieces. I vividly remember being so excited to pick it up at the repair shop two weeks later. After turning it on, there was nothing. Not one text. Not one missed call. It sent a feeling of emptiness down my spine and through my heart. I turn 29 this month, with that comes the responsibility of challenging core beliefs I hold about myself that are not true. Such as “People are fundamentally fine without me being present in their lives”. We all have them. It’s our Dharma to be reflective, grow, heal and to cultivate positive change for ourselves and our fellow travelers.

We officially open registration for the 2019/20 Yoga Training Program. There are only two spots remaining.
This is for those wanting to know more about yoga, want to become an instructor, or are already an instructor wanting to delve deeper.
Classes will be held one weekend a month beginning in September 2019, with a short orientation in August, and ending with an intensive retreat in June of 2020.
We have small class sizes to accommodate all of the growth that occurs during the year.
This program was designed to be completely unique. You will be studying the five most influential lineages of Yoga in the west, the most up to date science in movement, breath and brain, then practice these tools daily (or whenever it fits into your schedule).
Each student will receive individualized mentoring.
Ohana is invested in cultivating a family of quality Certified Yoga Teachers. Through hard work and commitment, you will explore the transformative power of Yoga, Healing Arts and movement.
Mindful Healing begins with the Self. One can best serve others when they are fully present and able to act as a reflection for others. Leading comes from the difficult work of looking within, going past the ego and cultivating compassion toward others.
Take note, this training is more of a transformative experience. You may use it for your own self discovery, however, we will give you all the tools to go out and teach with confidence. This training will provide the details necessary in topics of Anatomy, Asana, Meditation, Pranayama, Chanting, Philosophy, Ayurveda, Assisting, and Energy systems. You will also be provided with tools for deep Self study.
I come to your with years of training through many different teachers, styles and techniques in all areas. There are many guest teachers who are experts in their experience of certain aspects of knowledge. You will have an excellent well rounded anatomy program, with an in-house teacher as well as an online program.
Saturdays from 10am-6pm * Sundays from 8am-5pm
This is a life changing experience, as you will evaluate the depths of your life and what your daily routine is. It transforms your way of thinking and elevates your approach to daily interactions with people We have guest teachers in all areas of expertise going over enough topics, that your spiritual/yoga journal is enhanced.
Teen Yoga Training
We have now also registration for a mini teen yoga training. It will go through the same months, but be much shorter, meeting 3 hours on a weekend or week day (depending on what the students choose), once a month. I would love to foster the interested of these serious teens who are wanting to know more, will use their time wisely, and want to be in a small group with like minded adolescents.
With our fast paced world, this will teach them how to create daily choices that promote their own sense of well being, so as not to get depleted with what society is asking of them at this age. They will be given a certificate at the end for completion with specific hours covered. They can then use this if they ever wanted to be fully certified in the future.
I don’t want to leave this world without having given every ounce of myself leading others into a way that has helped me, and to help groom the youth of America in more spiritual, mental and physically stronger ways. Our future is brighter knowing we have kids out there willing to take care of themselves first before trying to take care of others. To not get depleted at such a young age.
Please call for more details, questions, or if you are interested in applying.

Drepung Gomang Monks Visit Contoocook!
November 4th – 11th, 2019
Five years ago some monks from the Drepung Gomang Monastery visited our little town of Contoocook, NH. They made their mark all around town, spreading compassion and kindness. Their work on the sand mandala and ceremony to disperse the sand into the river was one of touching sentiment. The night of food at the library, the sacred arts display of dance and chant was also one for the books.
I am happy to announce that they will be back this neck of the woods and I couldn’t be happier. We will, again, all need to work together to gather supplies of food, flowers, and places for them to set up.
They work all on donations to fund their land and space in India governed by the Dalai Lama, and I know our town will step it up to provide them funds to bring back to their cherished homestead. In exchange, they show us their traditions and ceremonies of Tibet.
Please stay tuned for how you can help, and what the schedule will be during that week. My heart is so happy for this opportunity again.

Nov 16th – 10am – 6pm
Nov 17th – 9am – 5pm Thai Massage combines the best of yoga, massage, meditation and energy work into a powerful healing modality. Among its many benefits, clients report an amazing ability for the massage to help remove tension, eliminate pain in the neck, shoulders, back and legs and to feel more youthful, deeply relaxed and refreshed. That is because Thai Massage gets the body to move how it was designed while combining customized massage techniques. As such it helps clients to heal themselves naturally. What’s more, you learn to give it as a meditation in loving kindness and compassion. As such the benefits are shared and they are profound. By design you’ll learn to massage so that it is at least as good to give as it is to receive. This is a class designed for yoga teachers, massage therapists and those without any experience. In addition to the massage itself, yoga teachers will be able to gain confidence and knowledge for giving assists, incorporate Thai Massage into their classes and have a new treatment to offer private students. Massage therapists will be able to start offering a new modality to their clients right away. And those without any experience can give a high-level massage even after one weekend of training. In this course, you will learn a complete 60-minute massage: This course is accredited with NCBTMB for continuing education and can be used as continuing education with Yoga Alliance. |
